OUR FOOD

At Somer we work closely with local producers to create seasonal menus with excellent produce. Head chef Gareth Cartledge and his team have created this concept with input from Josh Eggleton, chef patron of The Pony & Trap and Adrian Kirikmaa, Food Development Manager at St Monica Trust, the team serves up great British food the way it’s meant to be done.
Our fully stocked bar offers an extensive range of wines, craft beers, ciders, gins and other spirits.

HISTORY

Once the home of Fry’s, then Cadbury’s, the Somerdale Factory from which Somer Dining takes its name made some of the most famous chocolate bars in the world. The factory was a huge employer for the area, and the heart of Keynsham.
Today the site of the Somerdale Factory is now The Chocolate Quarter, a modern retirement complex managed by St Monica’s Trust and containing community facilities including a doctor’s surgery, barbers and restaurants. Along with cafe and pizzeria B-Block, Somer Dining can be found on the ground floor of the building.

The Chocolate Quarter is close to the centre of Keynsham and a
five-minute walk from the town’s railway station, which has regular services to and from Bristol and Bath.

Parking is free to all visitors to The Chocolate Quarter for up to two hours in the car park at the rear of the building, which is monitored by an Automatic Number Plate Recognition system.
With a busy nursing care home, restaurant, pizzeria and leisure facilities on site, it was necessary to limit free parking to a maximum of two hours to encourage a regular turnover of vehicles visiting The Chocolate Quarter.
Visitors to The Chocolate Quarter should ensure that they only park in the purple bays, as the red ones are for visitors to the GP surgery and the yellow bays are for residents only.
Signage around the site indicates what each colour bay refers to and the maximum stay allowed.
